Everett, Washington – 14 January 2008– Two teams from the Everett Silver Blades synchronized skating group, won the Millennium Cup at the BC/YT Open Synchro Championships held this past weekend in Langley, B.C., Canada. Skating their personal best, the two teams consisting of eight skaters each from all over the Seattle area placed fourth in their respective categories – Festival Pre-Juvenile and Festival Pre-Novice.
Chosen by their peers, the Millennium Cup is a great honor to receive. It is given to the team that “best exemplifies the Spirit of Synchronized Skating”, demonstrating great sportsmanship with each other, as well as for all the other competitors.
“With the synchro program in only its second year in Everett, I am so honored and proud that we received the Millennium Cup. It is a testament to how wonderful these young skaters are and what great team spirit they have,” noted Melani Young, the Director and Coach of the Silver Blades.

Synchro (which began approximately 50 years ago in the U.S.) is growing in popularity and numbers throughout the world.
